About Virtual Marketing Guide

Meet Shannah- Founder and CEO

Welcome to Your Virtual Marketing Guide! I’m Shannah (pronounced Shawna), the founder of Virtual Marketing Guide.

I’m not your typical marketer. First off, I didn’t go to school or learn marketing from a college classroom. I went to college to become a teacher. I worked in both the public school system and a private special education school before needing to stay home and teach my children. But as a homeschool mom of a large family living on only one income I was always dabbling in ways to make money online (more about those things down below).

Second, I talk WAY too much about my cats. Our family is passionate about helping the overpopulated stray and feral cats out there. We have participted in TNR programs and spent many hours gaining their trust so that we could give them a better life.

And third, I’m no longer in my 30’s or even 40’s I’m in my 50’s.

Who I Help: Small Business Owners Who Want Simpler, Smarter Marketing

I work with online entrepreneurs and local business owners who want to stop blending in and start showing up. Whether you’re selling digital products or running a service-based business in your community, I’ll help you bring in the right people- organically.

I’ve helped business owners grow their email lists with SEO, get found on Pinterest, Youtube, and Google, and guided local business owners to rank on maps and search without needing to become marketing experts themselves.

My First Website…and Second

My first website was sharing tips about saving money to moms. It was called Fit Frugal Life. I was an extreme couponer and raising 8 kids. I had a lot to share but I didn’t know anything about a website or blogging so it failed miserably.

After beating a Cancer diagnosis I started a website helping women lose weight and add healthier habits to their day. I dug into learning all about SEO and organic marketing strategy. My website really took off and filled my funnel with leads into my group coaching membership.

How I Went From Overwhelmed Blogger to Organic Marketing Strategist

Other business owners were reaching out wanting me to help them with their marketing. I found I loved it so much I pivoted my business once again. I’ve been knee deep in helping business owners get found online since 2017.

What Marketing Tasks Moved the Needle for My Clients?

I dug deep into each client’s business to find out what made their products or services unique and capitalized on that in their marketing. I put systems in place to organize their marketing assets so they were easily accessible to repurpose and reuse. I created templates so I (and they) would never have to reinvent the wheel again.

And what really moved the needle for their visibility was…

  • Competitor and keyword research
  • Optimizing their Pinterest, Youtube, and Social Profiles
  • Creating valuable marketing content like blog posts, videos, lead magnets, pins, etc

My client list grew and so did the hours I worked. Sometimes I didn’t close my computer until 1 am. This wasn’t helping my health or giving much quality time to spend with my family. So, I decided that I wanted to take what I did for clients and turn it into digital products that could help make marketing easier for small businesses without burning myself out.

But as life has it there have been many “lifey obstacles” that has slowed me down in building these resources…

Not to bore you with the details but so you see I’m a real person too…

  • I became a full time caretaker for my mom then a year later she abruptly passed away.
  • We moved cross country twice.

Then just last year…

  • An autoimmune condition flare up that put me in bed for 2 months.
  • A tornado that took the power out for a week and flooded one level of our house.
  • A fraud attack on all my products and my affiliate program (just as I started gaining traction.).
  • Death of 3 of our cats and a dog of 16-18 years

The final straw…

My husband was hurt at work in Sept 2024. The wound got infected in a matter of 4 days and led to an amputation of his left foot. Dealing with hospital stays, therapy appointments, contacting lawyers and insurance companies (with his company’s insurance denying workman’s comp) had my work come to a screeching halt.

I continued to help my clients with their marketing (with great success) but haven’t had the time to build out this website, create those resources, or market my own business.

Or so I thought…

I’ve been recovering myself over the last few months from an accident that damaged my left hip. But I am now on the mend and excited to get back to these resources.

What Makes Virtual Marketing Guide Different

Most marketing advice is built for big teams or full-time creators not small business owners who are short on time and wearing all the hats.

If you are tired of:

  • Trying to “keep up” with marketing your business
  • Feeling like you’re always starting from scratch
  • Always being in reactive mode, never able to plan ahead
  • Not having any systems, templates, or done for you resources to make things feel easier

And not interested in:

  • Dancing (or talking) on video
  • Sending cold DMs
  • Getting on constant sales calls

I’m your guide!

Over the years, I’ve:

  • Built organizational hubs and workflows using tools like Airtable, Trello, and Google Sheets.
  • Provided keyword and competitor reasearch
  • SEO for Blog content, YouTube videos, Podcast episodes, and Pinterest
  • Wrote conversion focused content for blogs, emails, and social platforms
  • Created reusable templates, AI prompts, keyword lists, automations, and GPTs that have saved thousands of hours

My Marketing Stats

I’m an introvert so I discovered early on that being socially visible was not really my thing. I did live videos, posted videos of myself exercising (I still cringe when they come up in my memories), and sent cold dms (yes, I even tried those “Hey Girl”s because back then that is what the Gurus said to do).

But when I found SEO things changed for me! I increased my own little “tiny” website on weightloss to a domain authority of 16 and was ranking for 9 keywords in less than a year.

I love marketing strategies that will move the needle with the least amount of effort (and less time spent being sociable, lol). So when I figured out that when you put the right things (such as keywords) in the right places (like titles, descriptions, and content) people found you by searching I threw myself into learning all I could about Search Engine Optimization.

And I’m not just talking Google SEO! Pinterest is another great search engine that I learned to master. This was a screenshot of my Pinterest Analytics for 30 days after I started putting the right keywords (specific to Pinterest) in the right places.

Client Marketing Stats

I have helped my clients increase page views, click thrus, Youtube and email subscribers, video views, social engagement and most importantly more revenue in their business..

Here is a screenshot from one of my clients showing the page view spikes each time a blog was posted in April. If you look over at the graph at the top right you will see that the page views significantly shot up from January to February from 4000 pages views to over 18k.

I also scored featured snippets on Google for many blog posts. Here are a few:

And scored other spots on Google like the People Also Ask…

This was after revamping a client’s YouTube account updating titles and descriptions.

I have set many clients up on Pinterest which has been a huge driver of traffic for their products and services. Here are screenshots of their Pinterest analytics after I refreshed or set up their accounts.

I helped some businesses establish their presence on social media while others I revamped their strategy for better engagement. Here are a couple screenshots from their analytics.
